Rural Wastewater Treatment Project in Dongyuan Town, Longhai District, Zhangzhou, Fujian Province

  1. Project Overview

This project serves as a demonstration initiative for decentralized rural wastewater treatment in Longhai District, Zhangzhou City. Eight treatment stations were constructed, each with a capacity of 100–300 m³/day, covering villages throughout Dongyuan Town. Dedicated to treating rural domestic sewage, the project addresses critical gaps in rural environmental infrastructure and supports the advancement of beautiful countryside development and improved rural living conditions.

  1. Core Project Details

Employs the mature and stable “A²/O + MBR” process, well-suited to handle significant fluctuations in rural wastewater quality.

Treated effluent meets Class 1B discharge standards under the Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants (GB 18918-2002).

Utilizes integrated, compact equipment enabling rapid installation, minimal land use, and straightforward operation and maintenance—ideal for rural settings.

Establishes a complete “collection-treatment-reuse” system, with treated effluent utilized for agricultural irrigation and river ecological replenishment.

Operated under the unified management framework of the Longhai District Rural Wastewater PPP Project, ensuring standardized and large-scale operational efficiency.

Selected as a Fujian Provincial Rural Domestic Sewage Treatment Demonstration Project.

Decentralized MBR treatment technology certified for promotion by the Fujian Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment.

Contributed to Longhai District’s rural wastewater initiative being recognized as a provincial-level green finance exemplary case.

Effectively improved rural water environments, benefiting over 10,000 residents, and recognized as an outstanding environmental project under the Rural Revitalization Initiative.
